LaserCat Maintenance

1. Make sure that no one is using LaserCat.
2. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the Apps folder (Drive N: -- \\www\apps). Open the LaserCat folder.
3. Delete everything in the LaseCat folder except for the two "lasercat" files lasercat.exe and lasercat.bat.
4. Put Disc 1 of the new lasercat volume in the CD Player.
5. Go to the CD drive in Windows explorer. If you do this too quickly, you may get a message and need to click "retry."
6. Copy all files beginning with "lc" and the file called "toc" to the LaserCat folder that you located in step 2. Tip: You can copy multiple files at once by selecting them as described below and dragging them together.
7. Put in the next CD and copy all its files to the lasercat folder. Repeat this step until you have copied the contents of all the CDs. Note: There will be a delay after you put in a new CD before you can click on the CD drive to see ites contents. Also note: You may get messages about replacing existing files. Answer "no" to these.
8. Test LaserCat on the workstations to make sure that the update was successful.
9. When logged on as librarian, open the lasercat folder in librarians' menu. Run the database configurator to update the description of the database.

To select multiple files in Windows Explorer:

1. Click on the first file in the group
2. Shift + Click on the last file in the group
3. Control + Click to select or de-select individual files.
