Microsoft Office 2000

To install Office 2000 in a terminal services environment, it's necessary to use tools from the Office Resource Kit. See the Terminal Serves Application Compatibility Notes at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/win2000/tsapp.asp  

  • Downloaded and installed ORKTools.exe from http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/2000 (the toolbox section). The downloaded file is a self-installing package.
  • Followed instructions at http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/2000/two/30t3_2.htm to install Office using the tools provided.
    Customize TermSrvr.mst: Saved the customized version as GustavusLibraryTermSrv.mst in the Terminal Server Tools folder (same location as original). Accepted default components except Outlook. I hope this can be added later if we want it but if we don't, it greatly complicates setup and might interfere with Netscape Messenger.
    Ran Setup using the TRANSFORM command and specifying the .mst file I created. Setup completed successfully.
